ARTIST STATEMENT

My practice explores the body as an unstable emotional site, tracing a shift from realism toward abstraction through acrylic, pencil, collage, and pen and ink. Poses and gestures are informed by my own emotional states, serving as a point of departure rather than literal self-representation. As figures fragment, distort, and multiply, material layering and gesture carry the expressive weight of the work, allowing sensation to overtake likeness. The resulting images hover between presence and dissolution, using the figure as a vehicle for emotional tension rather than representation.
